Athletic Director - Lee Wilkins Additional Student Support Counselor - Amber Simpson New Law Regarding Required Intervention Any student who was not successful on a STAAR or EOC test is required to have intervention. This means that there may be an Academic Support class on the schedule and that can’t be changed. This does not mean that any student is less than another student or that we are just concerned about the performance on the STAAR test. We will use this classroom opportunity to close gaps that may have resulted from COVID, help students recover credit that may have been lost in a previous course, assist students focusing on the ACT, SAT, or TSI, or give students extra tutoring opportunities in preparation for a future STAAR or EOC. What do you do FIRST? Complete the online registration process - this MUST be completed before any schedule will be given to a student Make certain that your student is up to date on immunization requirements. All incoming 7th grade students have required vaccinations. Anyone new to the district must provide a complete vaccination record. If your student has medical concerns, please begin the paperwork process with your physician now so you can bring the necessary paperwork needed to have medications on campus. This is especially true for students who may have asthma, seizures, severe allergies, and diabetes. What do you BRING? We can make a copy of this if unable to upload. If your student will be driving to school and will need a 22-23 parking permit, we must have: $20 for parking permit (cash or check only) Copy of student’s driver’s license Copy of insurance that has your student’s name on it You can pick up your students' chromebook if the chromebook fees have been paid for the new school year.(cash or check only) Fees are $25.00, $15.00 for reduced lunch, $10.00 for free lunch if you qualify. Please complete the Free and Reduced Lunch form online. No schedule will be issued without ALL online registration components completed!!!!! No schedule will be changed the day of pick up!!! 2022-2023 Student Drug Testing Monday, August 1, 2022 12:30-4:00 PM Italy High School Cafetorium Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, Italy ISD will begin offering annual student drug testing as part of our comprehensive drug-testing program. Drug and alcohol abuse negatively affect a student’s safety, personal life, health, and academic performance. With parental consent, students in grades 7-12 who plan to participate in any school-sponsored extracurricular activities, as well as student drivers, are encouraged to participate. This program will consist of an initial annual drug test as well as random testing throughout the school year. Before a student enrolled in 7th-12th grade may participate in any school-sponsored extracurricular activities, receive a District parking permit, or drive on campus, both the student and the parent/guardian shall agree in writing that the student shall submit to the initial annual drug test and subsequent random tests in accordance with the attached guidelines. For graduation tomorrow night we will be using the new entrance to the football stadium that is located where the old tennis court is located at 400 College Street. The old drive that goes by the baseball field will be closed. Please reach out to any of your family and friends that do not have Facebook or would receive a staff or parent email from the school to let them know the change. We are excited to celebrate our 2022 graduates tomorrow night.

Dear Seniors of 2022 and Parents: Please review the information surrounding graduation and associated events. Please note that graduation is scheduled to be at the Italy HS Stadium. In the event of inclement weather, graduation exercises and any other events scheduled for the stadium will be at the Dome. Commencement Practice – Required On Thursday, May 26, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the stadium, we will have a mandatory practice for seniors participating in the commencement exercise. Practice was changed from its original date and time so seniors could practice at the stadium instead of the dome. Seniors must be in attendance and participate in the practice at the stadium in order to participate in the graduation ceremony. This is a necessity for planning and making the ceremony a serene and dignified event. Students not in appropriate school dress or exhibiting behavior that is a violation of the code of conduct at the practice will not be allowed to participate; therefore, they will lose the opportunity to participate in the ceremony on Friday. Students need to take care of all outstanding fines and return all school owned material. Any student not in compliance will NOT receive a diploma on the day of graduation. Commencement – Friday, May 27, 2022, Italy High School Stadium at 7:00pm Commencement will take place on Friday, May 27, 2022 at the Italy High School Stadium starting at 7:00 pm. All students must arrive by 6:00 pm to participate in the ceremony and should report to the new field house at the stadium for final instructions. Senior candidates for graduation are expected to be dressed appropriately for the ceremony. Boys are to wear dark slacks (NO JEANS, please), dark solid color shoes, and a light colored shirt with a tie under their graduation gowns. Girls are to wear a dark dress (if it extends beyond the gown) or a dark skirt or slacks, and neutral solid colored shoes (dress shoes – NO FLIP FLOPS or tennis shoes) with their graduation gowns. We will have staff members present to help with gowns, caps, and any other clothing issues. The “mortar board” style graduation cap is to be worn flat on the top of the head. Writing or messages on any of the clothing is not allowed. Students who are not dressed appropriately or come to the ceremony in violation of Italy ISD code of conduct will not be allowed to participate. Our staff will help monitor before and during the ceremony. Students will not be allowed to possess cameras, cell phones, or any other electronic devices at the stadium or on the floor of the Dome. After the ceremony families should plan to meet graduates on the outside of the Italy High School Stadium or outside the Dome in the event of inclement weather. If the ceremony is in the Dome, during the recessional, students will exit the dome through the front entrance. We understand that there are many people who are extremely excited about their children, relatives, or friends graduating. We desire to accommodate all of you by having a serene and dignified presentation of diplomas. Please note that every senior student deserves the right to have his/her name called without distraction from others. Please no air horns, cow bells, or any other noise devices. We look forward to a great ceremony, and I am looking forward to you joining us on Friday, May 27, 2022 at 7:00 pm at the Italy High School Stadium or the Dome in the event of inclement weather. 2022 Italy ISD High School Athletic Awards Banquet Italy ISD will be honoring our high school student-athletes at the 2022 High School Athletic Awards Banquet on Tuesday, May 24th at 6:00 PM in the cafetorium. Those wishing to eat dinner can purchase tickets at the reception desk at the high school for $10 each (checks should be made out to Italy ISD). High school student-athletes will eat free and can pick up their tickets at the front office with Mrs.White. Any other students, up to and including 8th grade, that attend and wish to eat will need to purchase a ticket. There will be a limited number of tickets available for purchase at the door, so please buy them ahead. You do not have to have a ticket to attend the awards, but you must have a ticket to eat dinner at the event. We look forward to a special evening honoring our student-athletes and the excellent job they did this year.
