Italy High School

The Italy ISD School Board met on May 17, 2021. At the meeting, a decision was made to discontinue the option for virtual instruction beginning with the 2021-2022 school year. Students will report to their schools in-person on the first day of class, August 16, 2021. Details on registration for current and new students will be available towards the end of July. Good morning and welcome to Tuesday!!! Last night at the board meeting it was decided to make masks optional beginning today. Those who want to wear them may do so but it is not required. Masks will continue to be available for those who want them.

On Tuesday, May 18th, the Junior High Band will be presenting their Spring Concert at 3:15pm in the Cafetorium. It will also be presented via Live Stream on the Italy ISD Facebook page. All are invited to attend. Hope to see you there! Mrs. Kimmons-Choate, Assistant Band Director.

Parents we will be STAAR Testing at the Secondary campus on May 11th and 12th. The 7th and 8th graders will be taking STAAR writing on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 11th and 12th beginning at 8:00am. We are encouraging all student to go to be early the night before their test. To eat a good breakfast. They may bring a small snack and bottled water to eat during a break while testing. Please remind your students they need to be in school appropriate clothing, no Pajamas. Junior High Students will be STAAR testing on the following dates: 8th graders Thursday May 6th - Science, Friday May 7th - Social Studies, Tuesday, May 11th - Math, Wednesday, May 12th - Reading 7th graders Tuesday, May 11th - Math, Wednesday, May 12th - Reading They need to report to school at 7:50am. They are allowed to bring a small snack and a drink. They need to dress in school appropriate clothing. (no Pajamas) Virtual students must test at the school. They may be picked up once they have completed their test. Please encourage your student to get lots of rest and to do their best.

The 7th graders will be taking STAAR writing on Tuesday, April 13th beginning at 8:00am. The Freshman will be taking the EOC English I exam on Tuesday, April 13th beginning at 8:00am. Baseball game vs Abbott is postponed until tomorrow (Saturday 4/10). If we can get umpires we will play at 1:00pm...if not game will be at 7:00pm. Update will be released as soon as we know.

Water has been refilled and should get all animals through Friday. Thanks to Larry Eubank, Mr. Glover, Mr. Rice, and Mr. White for all their help this week. We would also like to thank all parents that have helped with feeding and watering of Italy FFA animal projects. We would also like to send a shout to the City of Italy for all their support.

Our students were provided an awesome learning opportunity this week. Thank you to Mr. McDaniel for organizing this amazing event for our students. Italy High School Bookclub met with (via Zoom) award winning author, screenwriter, graphic novelist, and Texan Joe Lansdale. Mr. Landsdale discussed perspective, inspiration, and the character development that went into the creation of this particular novel, All The Earth Thrown To The Sky. Students asked questions and were given an insight, in regards to his upcoming projects. This book is available for checkout at the Italy ISD library.

ATTENTION PARENTS: NO EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES FOR TODAY (2/11/21) Due to inclement weather, NO basketball games will be played.

Italy Jr High & High School, Picture retake day for Seniors, Underclassmen and Staff will be on Tuesday, February 16th, 2021. If you missed the first picture day or you did not like your original picture taken in the fall, now is your only chance to do retakes.
